Trip to Manila: The Place for all Season "Rizal Park"



                This is my blog about Rizal Park. I choose this place because I want to reminisce the history of our country specially those people who fought for our freedom.

 This is the Luneta Park or Rizal Park.  
Rizal Park is an historical urban park located along the Roxas Boulevard. It is considered as one of the largest parks in the SouthEast Asia. It is also one of the major tourist attractions of the City of Manila. 
Rizal Park was also called "Bagumbayan". It is has been the site of some of the most significant moment in Philippine history. Among them are the execution of Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30,1896 whose martyred death made him a hero of the Philippine revolution.




The Statue of Sentinel Freedom

The Statue is Lapu-Lapu a native Muskim chieftain of Mactan and a representative of Sultan of Sulu, he was known as the native of the archipelago to have  resisted Spanish colonization.

 Diego Silang

A revolutionary leader who conspired with British forces to overthrow Spanish rule in the northern Philippines and establish an independent Ilocano nation. His revolt was fueled by grievances stemming from Spanish taxation and abuses, and by his belief in self-government, that the administration and leadership of the Roman Catholic Church and government in the Ilocos be invested in trained Ilocano officials.

                                                                  
                                                                   Apolinario Mabini

   A Filipino political philosopher and revolutionary who served as its first prime minister 
until May 1899. In Philippine history texts, he is often referred to as "the Sublime Paralytic", and as "the Brains of the Revolution." To his enemies and detractors, he is referred to as the "Dark Chamber of the President".

                                                                  Graciano Lopez Jaena
            A journalist, orator, revolutionary, and national hero from Iloilo, the Philippines, who is well known for his newspaper, La Solidaridad.  Philippine historians regard Lopez Jaena, along with Marcelo H. del Pilar and Jose Rizal, as the triumvirate of Filipino propagandists. Of these three ilustrados, Lopez Jaena was the first to arrive in Spain and may have founded the genesis of the Propaganda Movement.


                                                                  Jose Ma. Panganiban
A Bicolano propagandist, linguist and essayist whose life was tragically cut short, an event that caused great mourning in the Filipino community in Spain. He is one of the main writer and contributor for La Solidaridad, writing under the pen names "Jomapa" and "J.M.P."

                                                                Francisco Dagohoy
     
           A Boholano who holds the distinction of having led the longest revolt in Philippine history, The Dagohoy Rebellion. this rebellion against the Spanish colonial government took place in the island of Bohol from 1744 to 1828.





      
                         The tall building that you can see is the Manila hotel. It is a 570 room historic five star hotel located along Manila Bay. It is oldest premiere hotel in the Philippines built in 1909 to rival MalacaƱang Palace, the official residence of the President of the Philippines and was opened on the commemoration of American Indepence on July 4, 1912.




La Madre Filipina
It is a monument dedicated to the Filipino mother.

This is the Department of Tourism. It is the executive department  of the Philippine Government  responsible for the regulation of the Philippine tourism industry and promotion of the Philippines as a tourist destination.
